Orbi RBR750 Wifi 6 Much Slower WIFI than wired internet? 500/302 vs. 945/852. Is this normal?

Set up in my home office.

I have a large home, 5,000 Sq Feet 2 floors

Orbi WIFI 6 Mesh Model RBR750

Firmware V3.2.16.6

Fios 1 Gig fiber internet plugged directly into Orbi WAN port with CAT 6.

Speed test says Upload 945 Download 852 for wired internet

I stand in front of Orbi and do a speed test with my I Phone for wifi and get 500/302.

I hardwired a satellite 75 feet away in opposite part of the house and get 463/410  for wifi test. 20 or 30 feet away from the router or satellite and add a couple walls wifi drops by 50 - 75 %.

Is this normal?

My front porch shows wifi as 11/2 so I have to use an extender, Netgear EX2700, for my RING doorbell.

  • Is your iphone AX supporting?

Most AC supporting devices max out at 400-500Mpbs on 5ghz AC wireless.

THank you so much for your comment.

You are correct my IPhone does not support AX, but my point is i feel my WIFI numbers should not drop to under 75/75 at the other end of my house when I have the satellite hardwired to the router and it is postioned directly under the bedroom floor in the basement. Also my dining room 43/22, front porch 11/2,??? is this normal or do I need to work at it a little to get it to increase? Maybe buy another satellite?

The distance will cause speeds to drop.

Did you disable the wifi radio on the phone first, then move closer to the RBS, then re-enable the phones wifi radio so it will connect to the RBS? Sometimes phones will keep the connection to the farther signal untill it's force to disconnect then re-connect to find something closer.

Be sure your using good quality LAN cable between the CBR and RBS. CAT6 is recommended.
