Orbi satellites [RBS50] dropping connection

Dear Netgear.

I have one Orbi router [RBR50] and 2 Orbi satellites [RBS50] in a Daisey chain.  The backhaul status is always 'good' in the settings.  Every few days the connection to satellites stops and does not reconnect without having to turn them all off and turn them back on in order.  Are there any settings that can be changed to make the connection more stable?

Firmware version V2.5.0.38

Kind regards,

Tristan

  • The v2.5.0.x firmware is buggy and has been retracted from the NG site.  I suggest upgrading your RBR50 and RBS50 to v2.5.1.8 available from https://www.netgear.com/suppzio fort/product/RBK53.aspx#download

Download the zip file for both the router and satellite

    Unzip the files

Manually upgrade the firmware on the satellites first using the RBS-v2.5.1.8.img file

Finally, upgrade the firmware on the router using the RBR-v2.5.1.8.img file

Thank you.  I have now manually updated the firmware.  For some reason it wasnt coming up when clicking the check for udpate button...

I will report back in a few weeks if there issue is ongoing but I have my fingers corssed this is going to work better :-)

Sadly it's just happened again on the latest firmware. It seems to be the first satellite in the daisey chain that's dropping. Not sure if it's in my head of coincidence but it seems to happen more often when it's raining.

What happens if you swap RBS around in the chain?

Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since the FW update?
