Orbi Wired Speeds Unacceptably Slow - Wifi Not Impacted - QoS Issues?
Ever since I have received my Orbi, I have been plauged with wired speed connection issues. My wired connection speed continues to be throttled from 10-20Mbps no matter what steps I take. My wireless...

At Orbilogin.com, under Advanced > Set Up > QoS Set Up, you'll see a speed test. When I run this speedtest using my desktop, I get a download speed of 80 Mbps. But when I run a speed test on the desktop at www.speedtest.net, I get a download speed of 40 Mbps. My desktop is connected wirelessly to the Orbi router, which sits about 2 feet away! Can't understand why I would have two very different download speeds. Not sure which one is accurate. Then when I test (wireless) my laptop and iPad off the Orbi satellite using speedtest.net, both get 80 Mbps download speeds. Before I disconnected the ethernet cable from the desktop LAN, I ran speedtest and got 80 Mbps. Then when I switched the desktop over to the wireless router it dropped to 40 Mbps. VERY confusing! I can't tell if something is wrong with these two scores.

Thanks for explaining. I've got my Orbi in AP mode, so the QoS Set Up menu is not active for me.
It sounds like you have an 80 Mbps Internet connection. If I understand you correctly, your desktop has both wired and wireless connections. It also sounds like you are getting 80 Mbps wired and 40 Mbps wireless from your desktop.
What you describe would be expected if your laptop and iPad have faster WiFi hardware than what's in your desktop.
I expect when you use the speedtest on the Orbi QoS page, the speedtest is conducted between the router and the Internet. This is thus a wired test and will give you your full Internet speed. That's why you get the same result when wiring your desktop to the LAN.
When you do a wireless speedtest on your desktop you will only get about 50-60% on the physical link speed. If your desktop has an older 802.11n WiFi card, then 40-50 Mbps throughput is a typical maximum throughput.
If your laptop and iPad have more modern WiFi cards then they would be able to handle the full 80 Mbps.
By the way, if your desktop is 2 feet away from the router, then you should connect it to the Orbi router using a wire, turn OFF the wireless card in the desktop, and leave it that way. Save the RF spectrum for your other wireless devices.

Pre-Orbi -- Desktop was hard connected to the cable modem, and laptop and iPad used wireless connection to Linksys EA3500 router. This router had 1+4 ports, so I could connect the desktop by wire to the modem through the router. My wired speed was 80 Mbps. I disconnected the wire and tested the wireless speed between the desktop (802.11n) and the EA3500 and got 80 Mbps. So my wireless download speed between the desktop and the old router was great. Then I disconnecrted the EA3500 and configured the Orbi.
Post-Orbi -- (Yesterday) - The Orbi router only has 1+3 ports, so my desktop was no longer going to be hardwired. Hooked up the Orbi router and satellite. The laptop (802.11n) and the iPad (802.11ac) both clocked wirelessly at 80Mbps. But the desktop, only 2 feet away from the router, clocked at about 40 Mbps. Then I ran the Obilogin.com speedtest (as I mentioned in an earlier post) and got a download speed on the desktop of 80Mbps.
Now this morning, after the desktop booted up, I ran a new speed test and got 80Mbps!!! I didn't do anything except turn it on. Double the speed from yesterday. So I probably should have rebooted the desktop after I had configured the Orbi. No other explanation right now.

I got my Orbi system last year and the wired speeds was great, just recenly has the wired speeds became unacceptably Slow - Wifi Not Impacted. I rolled back the Firmware to Version: V1.8.0.6 and things work better now.

On 4/10/17 I had rolled back the firmware from version 1.8.0.6 and speed did show some improvements but the next day the speed was back to the unacceptably slow speeds again. Rolling back the firmware is not the answer. I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit with a Intel Core i7-4770K CPU @ 3.50GHz

When I first setup my Orbi system it worked great. Last month I started to have issuses with the system being unacceptably slow -wifi not affected. After reading though many of the slow wired speed issues I tried something new. I have the AC#000 Tri-band Orbi router with two satellites, a router on the main floor and a satellite in the basement and one upstairs in my office. Last month I moved a large flatscreen TV into the office and I moved the Orbi satellite closer to the TV. That's around when my issues started. So I moved the location of the satellite in the office back to the location it was in, which was on the opposite side of the room that the router is on the main floor and my cumputer upsairs in the office stopped buffering and Wired Speeds works great again. I think if the satellites are to close to the router it affects the speed.
~ I hope this help someone that's having Unacceptably wired speed.

Hi,
Just set up my Orbi system hoping to get better wifi coverage, had been using a Linksys WRT3200ACM and two wired access points. So far much slower speeds on both wired and wireless, I did update to the most recent firmware. Even speed test through Orbi setup only show about 80 down, I have a 300 MBs connection and with the old router would see downloads >300 and could even get that on 5G with wifi in certain areas of the house.
I got this through Costco and will try it for a week or so but may end up returing it if I can't get back to simialr speeds.
I have been readin through the posts but so far nothing I have tried has worked.

After a bit more trouble shooting I found that there is now a status setting for the Lan connections and noticed that the WAN connection was only at 100. Swapped out a cable and it jumped to 1000 and now my speeds are back to what they should be on both wired and wireless.
