Purchase a used Orbi RBK50...serial number issues

I bought a used RBK50 system a couple of days ago and everything has set up fine except being able to register the serial with netgear. I know I'm out of the warranty range but is there ANY benefit t...

I contacted the previous owner earlier today and he went into his account and deactivated my router from his account. I waited several hours and tried again...still says, serial number is already registered.
