RB50 speed issues finally solved
I finally after numerous calls and many setting changes incresed the speed of the Orbi, wired or wireless.
By default the MTU was set at 1500.
I have reduced the MTU to 1468 and my speeds have increased by almost 100Mb.
I am aware of double NAT and tested to ensure that was not so. The modem is in modem mode with fixed IP (serving two other appliances with fixed IP), not running any DHCP or wirreless all that is controlled from the Orbi.
Speaking to NG this morning they never even asked about my modem or make. They were very clear 1500MTU is not optimal for the Orbi, but it should be reduced. I did this an within an hour the speeds had increased dramatically.

What Firmware is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP modem the NG router is connected too?- NIL454Aspirant
I am connected to a Hitron 4 port modem CGNV4 in modem mode from Virgin Business.
The issue is not at the ISP modem. The change of MTU on the Orbi has increaded my speed from 270 to 450 (just tested it again).
Ok, was just curious on the model modem you had. Usually cable modems use 1500MTU values. Possibly your ISP sets something different.
FYI your modem already had a built in router so this maybe a factory unless the ISP has bridged it. http://www.hitrontech.com/product/cgnv4/This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktopMark your thread and solves so others will know.
Enjoy. :smileywink:
