RBK12 Router is getting 600mbp but wireless gives no more than 400mbps
I have an RBK12 Orbi WIFI Router is getting 600mbp from the ARRIS modem. The wireless gives no more than 400mbps. I have tried the cable connected to the router and its ok. The wireless does not give more thatn 400.
I also have in another home a NIGHTHAWK R6700V2 where the modem gives me 300mbps and the wireless gives me the same.
does the RBK12 does not pass thru the same speed?
Support did not help, they told me the wifi would never give you the same. I can leave with some degradation, but that much?
Your input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Netgear support is correct. WiFi performance is limited by the physics of WiFi. Do a Google search on what speed can be reasonably expected from WiFi connections. 2.4G has a maximum theoretical performance of 400mbps and 5G has a maximum theoretical performance of 833mbps if the devices are (literally) right next to the WiFi access point, but the actual throughput will always be less because WiFi has considerable overhead compared to ethernet. WiFi is half-duplex, which means that every time the SpeedTest app says "I got that packet", the sender has to wait. WiFi has management frames. It is simply not possible for a WiFi connection .
400mbps from a WiFi connection is damn good.
300-500Mbps is the max range for anything on 5Ghz AC. ALso depends on devices design and support as well. Most 2x2 MIMO devices are in this range. A device with 4x4 support can support much higher speeds.
