RBK50 decided to stop working, won't factory reset
A couple days ago my Orbi RBK50 decided to stop working correctly. In an attempt to disgnose the problem I powered down the two satellites (RBS50). I also connected directly to my modem (an ATT BGW210 residential gateway device) to verify that it wasn't an internet outtage. I did a reset on the RBK50 and attempted to set the network up again. I tried running the Orbi setup app on my phone and after a few minutes the phone asked to join the Orbi70 wifi network. After tapping Ok, a few seconds later it said it could not join.
I tried a few more attempts to reset the router and it just kept getting worse after that. Now I couldn't even get it to go from green to amber. At some point I saw red flashes, but not consistent.
I found the 30-30-30 trick and I was able to get the device to flash red. During this time I noticed I was able to ping the router. I've tried TFTPing firmware to the device, with successful attempts. The router flashed amber for a split second then back to the led ring flashing white (not pulsing white). I've tried nmrpflash and it said it was a successful upload. After the upload the device would flash amber. After performing a power cycle on the router I am still not able to set up the system. The led ring is flashing white and the power led is solid green.
This is very frustrating. I can't call netgear support as I purchased this over a year ago on ebay. What steps am I missing? Is there any way to set up the device without using the phone app?

If you disconnect the RBR from the modem then press the back reset button for 15 seconds then release and wire connect 1 PC to the back of the RBR and if you can't access the RBRs setup wizard at 192.168.1.1, then I would presume the RBR if bad.

Thanks for the response. This is really unfortunate. The fact that the unit seems to accept firmware uploads gives me hope that somehow the unit can be resurrected. I used to be a firmware devleoper so flashing hardware is nothing new to me. If I had more access to the unit I feel like somehow this could be fixed. It feels bad to throw away hardware.

I hear you. Feel bad as well. Only thing you can try is to see if NG has a RMA option available to you.
This TFTP method didn't work at all?
