RBK50 with DLink DSL2870B VDSL Modem/Router - how to turn off DLink router
Hi, I recently purchased an Orbi RBK50 system to improve the WIFI in my home, I originally set it up in AP mode and everything works well, however in this configuration I cannot use any of the Orbi ...

I believe passthru should help. Ya, I would contact the ISP or D-Link support and ask about this modem. Might check with the ISP to see if there is a modem only option available.
When you set up the DMZ on the DSL modem, did you set up a reserved IP address for the Orbi router on the modem then set DHCP automatic on the Orbi router? Not static.
Seems like there is something wrong with the D-Link modem.

Yeah, I'm starting to think there is an issue with the DLink modem....everytime I set a DMZ it starts to crash & reboot.
I just tested this by leaving all settings the same (Orbi still in AP mode) and simply putting Orbi in a DMZ, as soon as I tried to access a website - red LEDs' on DLink...& reboot!
The reboot loop makes it hard to get back into the DLink web interface to change the settings back again (you have to be quick between cycles). Funny thing is - everything else on the DLink works fine, it's just the moment you attempt to put Orbi into a DMZ that things go haywire...
Without the DMZ I get double NAT, so I guess I'm stuck again for now unless I can work out how to bridge the modem, however, my ISP seem to be ignoring my emails and I'm guessing if they do reply they'll tell me they don't support third party routers.

Ya. That shouldn't happen on the modem.
Check to make sure it's fully up to date on FW.
DMZ should work well and not cause it to reboot or crash.
