RBR / RBD40 - Jan 2025 Firmware Update Notification - Is it a hack?
Today my Orbi UI for my old, (i thought) unsupported RBR40 and RBS40 notified me of a firmware update.
I think you're update system might have been compromised!
Screenshot below.

Its it would be legit. Only auto updates come from NG. NG told me the 40 and 50 series are getting this update. Usually takes NG longer to post the file up on there download site. NG pushes to the AU services first in small batches. Then will post the files.

Seems that the AC series is getting a FW update. Was posted that the 50 series is going to be released, not up on download site yet. Sounds like the 40 series as well.
Thx - do you think that bc it's notified in the router's UI that's it's a legit update from Netgear? (I've reviewing their product download pages https://www.netgear.com/support/product/rbr40/#download and there is no mention whatsoever of an update for this older model).
I'm perhaps being paranoid, however i reckon if a nation state was able to compromise Netgear's update system and install their own 'firmware' on these types of devices then this would be very very desirable from their perspective.
