RBR40 bricked?

Hi, hoping someone might be able to help me resurrect my RBR40.

A while ago it started having problems, wireless devices lost their internet access but wired connections still worked. Turning it off and on again worked at first, but then one day nothing wireless would get an internet connection anymore. The ring of light on the top was just pulsing white. The orbi app on my phone couldn’t find any orbi device either.

I tried to do a factory reset, but that didn’t seem to work, and afterwards the router stopped responding to the reset button at all - the power led just stayed solid green no matter how long you held it in for, so I couldn’t do the manual tftp firmware upgrade method either.

I tried the reset method where you turn the power off, and hold the reset button in while turning the power back on - that seemed to work at first, although I got a pulsing red led instead of amber which didn’t seem like a good sign. Tried the tftp upload anyway, and to my surprise it claimed to have successfully uploaded the file to the router. Nothing happened after that though, no change to the router behaviour.

Any suggestions for what else I could try? It will really suck if it’s dead, I’m currently managing with my ISP’s default router but the reception is not great; I can’t really afford to shell out for a new mesh system, and I’m not sure I could trust Orbi again is this one’s bricked itself!!

With the RBR disconnected from everything, WAN and LAN devices, try a 30-30-30 reset on the RBR and see if this brings it back?

It won't even do a 30-30-30 reset now, it seems completely unresponsive to anything at all. Think it must be totally dead 😞

        Most likely.

If you need another RBR, try looking at places like ebay for shopgoodwill for good used units.

Maybe time to upgrade to something new as well.

        Good Luck.
