RBR40 help accessing
Hi guys, I got my RBR40 from my parents, and did a factory reset (new ISP with an Arris Modem/Router)
I'm trying to create a new network and stop using the Arris I had before.
When factory resetting the RBR40 creates a new network, but gets the Arris IP and I can't access the RBR40. I tried just going for the default Orbi ip address in the browser but I get no response and the orbilogin.com says "no orbi detected".
Sadly my ethernet adapter is not working (new one getting today) so I can't try that route yet...
I'm a little bit nervous about this set up not working... does any of this ring a bell to anyone?
Thanks in advance and will be updating once I get my ethernet adapter.
When the ISP device is a combination modem/router, the Orbi router cannot create the same IP subnet on its LAN side as the ISP LAN, so it changes to a different IP on the LAN side. Specifically, when the ISP modem/router is using 192.168.1.x, then the Orbi creates 10.0.0.x.
Personally, I find this puzzling, since the only requirement is not to use the exact same subnet. 192.168.2 x would be fine, as would 192.168.3.x, 4.x, 5.x, 6.x ...... etc.
One way to 'find' the Orbi router is to look at the Gateway address that is assigned to your device that is connected over WiFi. If it is 10.0.0.1, then that is where the Orbi router web interface will be found.

Hello pipomoreno,
I understand that when you set up the RBR40 in your network the admin page claims that there is no Orbi attached. Try using the App to set up your new RBR40 then access the Orbi admin page using your desired device.
Please navigate to the link below for steps and a video tutorial:

(Please be advised the Orbi in the video is not an RBR40 the process is still the same)
Best,
Kevin

Hi, thnks for the response but it does not work with the app either... is as if the RBR40 is an AP, only repeating the Arris signal, and the IP given is th same as if connected directly to the Arris Modem/Router...
eg:
Arris IP: 192.168.7.1
Orbi IP: 192.168.7.1
if I try to get to 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 (default Netgear IP) through my browser I get the "this page doesnt exists" message
The app and the orbilogin.com page don't detect the orbi...
If I go to muy router IP address connected to either device I get into the Arris login...
I got my adapter for the ethernet to try and connect directly but the conection says "Autodesignated IP" (maybe not the exact translation since my Mac is in Spanish)
Does any of this gives any tips on what the problem might be?

This helped, I could get into my Orbi!!! by going into my Arris Modem/Router and finding the designated IP for the Orbi, and typing it in the browser (sorry if this is exactly what you said, im still new in this 😅)
Now I get this image, my guess is that this means that the main unit was turned into a Satellite and I should:
1) download the firmware for my device
2) update firmware
3) see if thiis actually worked
4) if it worked > mark this as solved
Does it sound right?

Sooooo...
I feel dumb now... was trying to use the RBS50 as a router instead of my RBR40.... problem solved... thank you everyone
