RBR40 Orbi Failing to update satellite firmware

I'm getting a fail to update on both the app and when going into the router via orbilogin.net.

The main router does not need an update but the satelite fails every time.

  • You can connect a wired PC to the RBS and log into the RBS web page and update FW there.

FURRYe38is correct.  When the normal process for firmware updates fails, the solution is to

    • Download the correct satellite firmware from http://support.netgear.com
(The post does  not specify the model number of the satellite, so be sure to download the correct version.)
    • Unpack the zip file to extrace the img file for the satellite.
(And remember where the img file got put on your computer)
    • Connect the computer to the satellite web page, i.e. http://<IP address of satellite>
(The router Attached Devices page will show the IP address of the satellite.)
    • Log into the satellite using the same credentials as the router, i.e. "admin" and the admin password.
    • Select the menu item Firmware Update.
    • Browse to the location of the satellite firmware file.
    • After the satellite firmware updates, the satellite will restart.

I am too lazy to haul a laptop downstairs to update the satellite firmware (and also too lazy to unplug the satellite and haul it upstairs and back down) so I simply use a computer that is attached to the Orbi network (wired or WiFi).
