RBR50 - WiFI Calling Rarely Works
I realize that this question has been posed by others, but there is not often a good resolution to this in other posts. We have an iPhone 6 and 8 here at home, which is a 3-story townhouse, and the t...
- Apr 16, 2019You’re not going to want to hear this, but I’d probably start from scratch with a full factory reset .
Don’t break band steering. Disable daisychain if you don’t need it. I’ve disabled 20/40 coexistence here. Enable all 3 of the advanced wireless features.
See if just doing this much fixes your WiFi calling. It did for me.
When doing the full reset, I’d turn off ALL wireless devices and leave all wired devices disconnected. Use the paper clip method to reset the Orbi. Router first and then satellite.
As for which 5GHz channel to pick, the best way to know is by using a tool that can do a site survey. Android benefits by having a wonderful app called WiFi analyzer.

MrMediaGuy had a good suggestion for a tool he used to identy his WiFi issue with the Orbi. It might help identify WiFi jitter issue with your Orbi setup, which could cause the drops. You can give a try with your phone and see if you are seeing a lot of RED xx's.

Orbi 50
After much trouble and tinkering I finally found a solution that worked for me. You need to have the right ports open and the automatic firewall was blocking the needed ones (500 and 4500).
Here’s a full list of ports that Apple uses for information https://support.apple.com/et-ee/HT202944
by port forwarding (or just turning off firewalls) I now have wifi calling working perfectly.
Obviously i know there are different issues for different people so I’m not claiming a universal fix, but it did work for me!
Remember to reboot the router after changing any firewall settings. Then also go through these steps on the iPhone: turn OFF cellular data, turn OFF wifi calling. Reboot. Turn ON cellular data turn ON wificalling.

Which Orbi page did you make those changes? Thanks!
- Dd852Apr 21, 2019LuminaryAre you using Orbi as a router or as an access point? You need to set up port forwarding to your iPhone within whichever you are using as the router - if you use your cable modem as the router and dhcp source do it there, otherwise in the Orbi. Don’t forget to give your iPhone a static IP address so the port forwarding will stick. Good luck!

More important to start with a freshly reset router and enable advanced wireless features.
