RBR50 and RBS50Y synchronization pb.

Hello,

I have a RBR50 and a RBS50 setup, which has been operating for 3 years.

And I buy RBS50Y, to add outdoor.

But the synchronization does not work correctly, the state remains in "synchronization in progress".
I imagine that I have to update the firmware, but I can't do it. No way to update. When I check the box tu update, a window opens, but no response. The same with Safari an Firefox.
The RBR50 and RBS50 are in V2.7.3.22 and the RBS50Y, I don't know it is not showing.

Thanks for your help

  • Hello, Thanks for answer.

Yes , I know these two mode, the question here is in Orbi mode, and App mode.

I think I have found a solution, the firmware updating doen't work with Safari  and Firefox (MacOs), but it works with Chrome !

And it takes very very long to update.

    So, now it 's Ok

    The RBS50 has two 'modes':

    • As an extender that works with any WiFi router, and
    • As an Orbi satellite

Page 2 of the installation guide shows how to make sure the device is in the satellite mode

    https://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/RBS50Y/RBS50Y_QSG_EN.pdf

Although the guide implies that the satellite should be mounted first, the general advice on the forum for adding any satellite (including the RBS50Y) is to place the satellite in the same room as the router for the initial setup.  Once it is working correctly, then mount it outside.
