RBR50 extend satellite to satellite

Hello,

I am trying to set up my orbi configuration a specific way and face issues. I d need to know if that is doable :

I have a RBR50 in a room. I have 2 satellites in 2 other places in the house, which are connected to the RBR50 wirelessly, and it works perfectly.

I have another room in the house where no wifi reaches as the walls are really thick.

Aside one of my existing satellites, i got an ethernet wall plug, which ends in this room.

i tried plugging one of my existing satellites to the ethernet plug, then in the other room, i plugged a new satellite on the ethernet too to link the 2 satellites.

It seemed to work as my new satellite shows in the administration gui, with a wired icon and connection good.

So i thought it would emitt wifi in this room through the ethernet. Unfortunately, when i make a speed test i got 2mb / 1mb.

So i wonder if i m doing it right, or if it is not possible to set up satellites that way ? or maybe i need some options like daisy chain or anything.

Thank you

    Yes, one satellite can be linked to another satellite with ethernet. The second image on this page shows it:

    https://kb.netgear.com/000051205/What-is-Ethernet-backhaul-and-how-do-I-set-it-up-on-my-Orbi-WiFi-System

    What the web page does not illustrate is that the first satellite can be connected over WiFi or ethernet (either way).

    I suspect there may be an issue with the ethernet wall jacks or ethernet cable.  Try bringing the new satellite into the same room and connecting it with a short ethernet patch cable. Then connect a computer (laptop?) directly to the new satellite with ethernet and check speed.

    Because so few laptops/tablets, etc have ethernet jacks these days, I bought a USB/ethernet adapter for about $15 on Amazon so that I can test ethernet when I do not have a device handy with an ethernet jack.

      Hello

      I made some more tries on this setting with no luck.

      Just for a recap and maybe better explanation, here is what i would like to do :

      RBR50 ==========WIFI========= 1st RBS50 (Here OK)

           ||

           ||

           ||

        WIFI

           ||

           ||

           ||

      2nd RBS50 ======== ETHERNET ======== 3rd RBS50 (This one i got 8mb/3mb).

      I have on the admin gui :

      1st RBS50 working perfectly. high bandwith when connected on it.

      2nd RBS50 working also perfectly, bandwith is normal on it too and as above shows 5ghz icon.

      3rd RBS50 working bad, bandwith bad and showing wired icon and shows connected to the RBR50. (it is a point i find weird as i would expect to see it showing connected to RBS 2nd.

      Do you think enabling Daisy Chain could help in any way ? or maybe, i remove all the RBS from the router, (reset them) then sync the first one, then i plug the 2 remaining in ethernet (2nd and 3rd) and switch them on this way to see what i end with ?

      Thanks for your reply

      Regards

      Edit : Just to let you know also that i tried another ehternet cable, with no luck. i need to try your other advice, plugging the computer with ethernet usb adapter directly on 2nd RBS and also 3rd just to see if bandwith is any better.

      In my case it just looks like the 3rd RBS is anyway trying to get wifi from another sat or router and then i end with bad bandwith.

      ethernet in between 2 satellites is maybe not working the way i think it does and i would need another access point with like same SSID / pass to have a real wifi sent in the room. i got another router so i could try also.

        Hello,

        I could not edit my last reply, i tried on ethernet on first sat, and the sat in the room.

        i got like 650/550  on each, so bandwith is here. it is just like the 3rd sat is sending wifi he caught from any other sat and then the bandwith is very low as it is exactly the reason why i wanted to wire those 2 sats together :).

        Thanks
