RBR50 not connecting to internet
Morning,
2 days ago there was a powercut overnight and when I woke in the morning there was no internet on my WiFi network, both my RBR50 and RBS50 had the pink light illuminated. I've tried the following to fix it and now seem to be in a worse position than when I started.
1) Reset modem - still no internet
2) Power cycle whole network - still no internet
3) Replace RBR50 with old router, internet returned so this confirmed the issue was with Orbi and not the internet connection.
4) Searched Netgear forums, seemed this was a reasonably common issue and factory reset was usually required. I followed the instructions to perform the factory reset and then tried to configure through the Android App, it could never find the RBR50.
5) The network SSID that it reset to after factory reset was NETGEAR75. This was not what the sticker on the bottom of the router said and I never set that up. I didn't know the password and the one on the sitcker, "password" or my old network one didn't work. Logged in using ethernet and a laptop and saw Hardware Version: Invalid HW ID< use default Orbi. I assumed this had something to do with the app not being able to find it.
6) Did multiple factory resets, power cycles etc and nothing changed so I decided to update the firmware from 2.2.1.210 to the latest via 2.2.1.212.
7) I had a barebones login screen, firmware button was hidden but I found it and tried to upload the image. After about 30s of "Please wait...." the web page changes to 404 Not Found. When I log back in no firmware has been updated and it's still at 2.2.1.210.
Has anyone experienced this problem or got any advice what I can try next? I'm no expert when it comes to networks but understand more than the average person.
Thanks
Tom

This appears to be a picture of the satellite web home page, correct?
You are correct that a Factory Reset of an Orbi router (RBR50) should result in the router broadcasting the SSID that is printed on the label, something like "ORBIxx" with a WiFi password that is also printed on the label. The situation you describe is not expected.
You are also correct that firmware 2.3.1.210 can only be updated to firmware 2.3.1.212. This is necessary because back in 2016 the engineers set a "maximum size" for the Orbi firmware and did not anticipate that Netgear would want to include Disney Circle and Armor into the firmware, which pushed the size over the maximum limit. After updating to 2.3.1.212, the Orbi can be updated to any later firmware release (if that should be desirable. There is a raging debate over the wisdom of doing so.)
I am puzzled (and almost alarmed) that this is the second report of this Hardware Version: Invalid HW ID< use default Orbi.in the past week. I have been part of the communit forum for over a year and do not recall seeing mention of this situation before.
Power outages do strange things to electronics. Electronics are supposed to be designed to withstand power outages.
Perhaps the Factory Reset did not "take"? I would try it again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMw4ePACgc4

Thanks for the reply CrimpOn. No this was the main router web home page. I tried to factory reset it again but still the same. Looks like I might have to replace it on warranty.
