RBR50 WiFi is extremely slow with MacBook running Catalina

Have been having issues with networking connections and thought at first it was because of mismatched OS ... ie. Catalina on a macbook and Mojave on the desktop I am trying to connect to. All systems are now on the latest most up to date version.

Orbi app on iPhone says speed is 850+mbps... which is normal.  Speedtest run on macbook pro is coming back at around 29± mbps. Takes forever to search the internet, and get any directories on another computer to load via wifi.

Any feedback, solution, possilble culprits for the slow speed greatly appreaciated.

It has been written that certain versions of the IOS has speed and connection problems. I would go to the MacBook and reset the network, make sure all settings are optimum and check what speeds are supported by the NIC installed in the MacBook.

    One fix I read:

senior supervisor came to the following fix:

    1. Turn off bluetooth.
    2. Disconnect all peripherals from your computer.
    3. Open System Preferences. In the "Energy Saver" preference, de-select "Wake for network access" (no check, and leave it that way).
    4. Open the finder. Select the "Go" menu. Select "computer." Select "Macintosh HD." Go the the "Library" folder. Go to the "Preferences" folder. Find the preference file "com.apple.bluetooth.plist."
    5. Rename "com.apple.bluetooth.plist" as "com.apple.bluetooth.plist.old" (i.e. add ".old"). Eventually, if this solution works for you, you can delete this "old" preference file.
    6. Restart your computer (this will create a new "com.apple.bluetooth.plist" preference file).
    7. Turn bluetooth back on.

Thank you for the fast response. I will give this a try.

I did just update the Firmware to  V2.5.2.4 and re-ran speed test with xfinity speedtest tool.

My download speed has now increase to 338.7 Mbps. Another test returned 523± Mbps. My xfinity plan supports 1000 Mbps, which I do get on my iPhone 11 — well.. in the 900 range plus or minus.

Maybe my older macbook pro does not support any higher? Will double check on another, newer macbook pro.

Again, thank you for your feedback. Very much appreaciated.
