RBR50 wifi speed slowdown

Hi all,

Bit of a puzzler for me, so thought I'd ask the hive mind..

RBR50 with 2 RBS50s, running FW 2.7.3.22 connected to cable modem, running 1.1gb connection from ISP.

I'm getting regular slowdown in wifi speed on the RBR50, solved by a reboot. Normal wifi speed is c500mbps, but after a day or so, the router wifi speed drops to about 50mbps.

Speeds at RBS's is normal 300-400mbps (checking that devices I'm checking on are on RBS before testing speed) and speed test on RBR50 is normal as is SamKnows speed test at the cable modem (run on an affected devices - shows speed at device as c50mbps).

I recall this happening for a long period some time back, to the point where I had to put in a daily reboot of the RBR50 overnight to kick it back into the expected speed.

Nothing new/changed on the network. Can see no other wifi signals on even close to the channel that am using. Seems to be apparent on all devices that I can test on, so not device specific.

Any suggestions? I guess I could change the wifi channel, but is odd that it runs for a day or so at full speed and then drops.

Thanks

  • What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and 📡 satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS📡 to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.

What channels are you using? Auto? Try Auto and 48 on 5Ghz. Or try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 40 to 48 channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

Is Armor, Circle or Traffic Meter enabled?

      - Think it's an Arris something or other, it's not clear as it's branded as the ISP.

      - They are probably about 20ft from the RBR and on different floors, we have some very thick walls that caused me to place them closer to get the best performance and range. Especially covering out into the garden and into the loft where we have a room and with just one RBS the coverage was poor.

      - Using Ch 48 and Ch 13 as others have local wifi on them from neighbouring properties

      - c10 other wifi signals picked up. All on different channels to those I am using

      - SPC is enabled, no Armour or TM

Also try turning down the power output of the RBRs wifi radios from 100% to 50% and see if this changes anything. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings

Is Armor, Circle or Traffic Meter enabled?

        - SPC is enabled, no Armour or TM <Possible SPC could be slowing things down. A factory reset maybe needed and setup from scratch and don't enable SPC to see if this changes anything.
