RBS 30 shows as connected device, can't update firmware
I've had a RBR 40 with 2 satellites (RBS30s) for a few years now. Generally it works well, or as well as Spectrum will allow it to. I have been having problems with my satellites for a few months and basically ignored it as one went offline and I couldn't get it to reconnect. However, recently, when the second one went down and I couldn't get it to reconnect, I had to start working on it.
I've spent the last 4.5 hours trying to fix my connections. I have done a full factory reset. I was able to somehow get one of the satellites to connect long enough to complete a manual firmware update that was needed. However, I haven't been able to get the other to properly connect in order to complete the update. After all I've done, that satellite is showing as connected (blue ring), on the GUI it shows as connected to the other satellite as a "connected device" with a connection type of "wired" but doesn't show up as a satellite and therefore cannot connect in a way for me to complete the firmware update. On the app it only shows one satellite as being active, but if I open the connected devices, I find it in that list connected to the other satellite, like in the GUI.
I'm tired. I'm considering throwing it all away and going to buy a different system. Why isn't there an ethernet connection to the satellites so I can independently update them??? Or a way to connect to it directly to solve these issues??
NOT A FAN OF MY ORBI RIGHT NOW

When working on that second satellite, did you move it to the same room as the router?

Yes, I did. It was about 4 feet away. Then I moved it back down a floor and tried it some more. No difference in either scenario.

And I mistyped the satellite IDs - they should be RBW30s

Yes, in many ways an attractive design. No wires. No counter space. My dentist's office has them. But, I notice that none of the newer Orbi product lines have included anything similar. May not have been enough sales to justify updating the product. (sigh)
I would definitely keep it in the same room while working on it. Guess you plug it into an extension cord to do the Factory Reset? Does the power LED turn amber and begin to flash? (does it even have a power LED?)
While it is powered off, I would probably select the option on the Attached Devices page to Remove the satellite, and then after the reset, go through the process of "Add Orbi satellite".
