RBS20 satellite won't connect

I have a satellite that is now offline. I've reset it etc and no luck. The firmware is older than the other satellites and router, so I downloaded it but the disk image keeps saying it's corrupted when I try to open it on my Mac (I downloaded it from Netgear's site). Any suggestions? I think I just need to get the satellite updated with the newer firmware but the fact that the download isn't opening is not helping. Thanks.

  • Do not open the actual FW file on the PC. Just use it and a web browser connected to the RBS web page and there is a FW update feature there where you select the FW file for the browser to then send it to the RBS thru it's web page.

Does the RBS connect to the RBR if you ethernet connect it to the back of the RBR LAN port?

The Mac will see an unzipped "img" file as a CD that it wants to burn or mount. It isn't.

    Best follow Netgear's instructions:

How do I manually upgrade firmware on my Orbi router using orbilogin.com? - NETGEAR Support

Macs don't always have an Ethernet connection, but you can do the same thing with a wifi browser although that KnowledgeBase article advises against it.

The problem is that there are problems when the router and satellite have different firmware. And Netgear likes us to update satellites before we update routers.
