RBW30 Firmware did not auto-update
Received email from Netgear yesterday that firmware updates were available to address security issues on the RBR50 and RBW30. Today, I used the Orbi app on my phone to do the updates. The Orbi app had green checkmarks next to both the main router, RBR50, and the satellite, RBW30, so I proceeded with the updates. But it only updated the RBR50 router, to 2.7.0.70, leaving the RBW30 satellite at 2.5.0.4, although a newer version, 2.6.1.6, was shown on the Netgear site for that device. Subsequently, I logged into ADMIN from my laptop and tried to do the update there. First it said downloading FW for the RBW30 and then it received Update Failed messages. The router was showing as 2.7.0.70 and the RBW30 remins at 2.5.0.4. I'm doing this on a Windows 10 laptop using Firefox as my browser. Both are current, software-wise. The download available for the RBW30 is 2.6.1.6. How can I get that version onto the RBW30? Thank you in advance for any assistance!
Thank you for your guidance! I went through those steps, including unpacking the zip file, which produced a chk file. Logged in as instructed and browsed for my unzipped firmware file (chk) and hit the button to load that to the satellite. That seems to have gone successfully, and now when I look at the firmware levels on both the Admin page thru my laptop, and also via the Orbi app on my phone, they both show the new version 2.6.1.6. And I went ahead and resync'd the satellite with the main router, but wasn't sure if that was necessary. Happy Holidays!

When the Firmware Update web page fails, another way to update firmware on a satellite is to (a) download the firmware file from the Netgear support site https://www.netgear.com/support/product/RBW30.aspx#download , (b) unpage the "zip" file to extract the firmware file (which if my memory is correct is a "chk" file for the RBW30 rather than an "img" file like all the rest of the Orbi's), then (c) use Firefox to connect to the satellite web page using the IP address of the satellite, i.e. http://<ip of rbw30>, and (d) select the bottom menu item "Update Firmware". It will want you to "Browse" to find that firmware file and upload it.
