RBW30 firmware
I am trying to understand how to update my satellites to the latest fw revision V2.5.0.4. The webpage doesn't give the option to auto update and when I go the manual route I get the following message :
This firmware file is incorrect! Please get the firmware file again and make sure it is the correct firmware for this product. |
I tried using the zip file, the chk and also renamed it to img. How do I get this upgraded?

Do not rename the firmware image file. For some (never explained) reason, firmware for the RBW30 actually does have a *.chk file extension. Whoever made this decision has probably "moved on" and the support engineers are simply stuck with it (and the resulting chaos).
Try this:
- Discover the actual IP address of the RBW30 satellite.
- Open a browser to http://<ip of BRW30>
- Select the bottom menu item, "Firmware Update"
- When it comes time to browse to the file, select the *.chk file

worked like a charm! What's the latest fw for a CBR40? The website seems to indicate there is a new one, but the app say 2.3.5.12 is the latest
Orbi firmware releases are a MESS.
- The "app" will announce new firmware when the web interface does not.
- The web interface will say, "No new firmware" when there IS newer firmware on the support web site.
- People who manually updated RBR50 to 2.5.1.32 (which was "pulled") got automatically updated to 2.5.2.24 without notice, but 2.5.2.24 is not on the web site for anybody else to get.
MY practice (which with $5 may get you a cup of coffee) is to wait until:
- I see a notice on the web interface announcing new firmware (which almost NEVER happens), OR
- There are at least two weeks of comments on the community forum remarking about what happened when people upgraded.
I have waited over a month to install an upgrade.
