Satellite wireless backhaul stopped working

RBK50 purchased and installed back in April. Manually updated both router and firmware to firmware 2.1.4.10.

Working fine until 3PM last Saturday. Devices connected to satellite do not get a DHCP address and cannot reach the internet.

Moved the satellite into the same room as the router and reproduced the issue regardless of whether the satellite is 1 or 10 feet away.

Satellite initially connects and shows blue LED, but then web and iPhone app show that satellite is disconnected.

Reset both router and firmware back to factory defaults but did not resolve issue.

Upgraded both to 2.1.4.16 but did not resolve issue.

Finally connected wired backhaul and now devices can get DHCP address and browse the internet.

Spent half the day running an ethernet cable from basement to 2nd floor so that satellite could be put back in its original location.

Satellite is now working on ethernet backhaul, but wireless backhaul is still completely non-functional.

Is there anyway to troubleshoot further to see if this is a hardware issue?

  • Did you only set up 1 satellite?

You should have two satellites in your kit, if you do, and didn't set up the other satellite, try setting it up and see if the 2nd satellite does same thing or not.

Possible you have a bad satellite.

Turn off all satellites and make sure your devices connect ok to the main router base.

I have the RBK50, which only comes with one satellite. RBK53 comes with two.

        Ok, wasn't sure.

In that case I would contact NG support and ask about this, ask for an RMA.
