Standard Parental Controls. Open DNS parental controls.

I have the standard parental control turned on with open dns.

I can't shop at this site.

https://www.victoriassecret.com

Anyway to unblock it?

  • Well, the obvious thought is to (a) turn off Parental Controls, (b) do your shopping, and (c) turn Parental Controls back on.

    However.....

I have never activated Parental Controls, so I did so just now.  ("Standard", not "Disney").  Clicked "Apply" and then opened the web site with two different browsers. (victoriassecret.com)  So, activating Standard Parental Controls did NOT block this web site for me.  (Nor did it block some rather obvious porn web sites, but that's another story.)

I found it rather frustrating when I clicked on the Orbi link "Learn More" under Standard Parental Controls and it took me to the Disney Circle information (not to Standard Parental Controls).  I have this suspicion that "Standard Controls" no longer exists?

    Anyway, Good Luck!

There is more setup to the standard parental controls than that. The standard parental controls use OpenDNS. I have it setup and it works flawlessly except for the fact Netgear seems to be phasing it out so they can only cell us Orbi crap. The way the standard parental controls worked is you have to have the Netgear Genie Windows 10 Desktop software (it looks a lot like the web interface where you manage your router settings). From there you turn on standard parental controls and it ask you to login to your OpenDNS account. Then it links OpenDNS to your router and works way better IMO then using OpenDNS stand alone or the Orbi junk. However, there is literally no way to set it up anymore unless you have an old version of the Windows 10 Genie software downloaded. Just toggling that "standard parental" controls on the web interface does nothing.
