starlink static routing

I'm new to starlink and saw references to set up static routing, so tried it. i've got a gen 2 dishy and operate with the internet adapter and starlink in pass through mode. for me the statistic tap works in the app, only the network tap is greyed out. so do i even need static routing.

anyway, i followed the instructions from

https://community.netgear.com/t5/Orbi-Pro-WiFi-for-Small-Business/Setting-Static-Route-for-Starlink/m-p/2059990

at this point my isp is now starlink. when i fill in the static routing form, i get invalid metric number.  i get this error message – invalid metric number. Later i'm going to reboot the router and start over. But do i even need to do this if i have the statistics tab

I've got an orbirb50 with 1 satellite. starlink support rarely responds with anything useful, found it better to post on forums. in any case, i'm returning starlink after about a week trying to get it to be viable. after testing it standalone outside and getting 50 mb during the day, i went ahead and started a permanent routing of the cable to the dish. then i found out i often was only getting 3 - 8 mb during the evening hours 6 - 10 pm. starlink has been oversold and satellite deployment delayed, so it will be awhile before there is a fix.

      thanks for your response.
