Trying to update Firmware on a RBS 50

Trying to update the firmware on my RBS 50.  My router is now V2.3.1.60, the satellite is at V1.4.0.18 and will not update. trying to update to V2.2.1.212.img but it tells me that the formate is incorrect.  Driving me insane!

  • I worked out later last night, I kept going back in updates until I found an update would take. Thanks everyone for your help.

  • What is the Orbi router involved here?

    Is that up to date?

That is seriously old. Dozens of versions since then.

Try using something between that and the latest.

This can "unstick" things. There may have been an intermediate update that, like 2.3.1.60, needs an older version to make the leap.

  • Download v2.0.0.74 and v60 for the RBS. Need to connect 1 wired PC to the back of the RBS. Factory reset the RBS by hitting the reset button for 15 seconcs then let go. Wait up to about 4-5 minutes. Your PC will get a IP address from the RBS. The IP address for it's web page should be 192.168.1.250 or .254. One of those input into a web browser will get you the web page for the RBS. Log in is admin and PW is password. Go to the FW update section and manually select the v2.0.0.74 file and up load it. Then you can directly update to v60 afterwards.

Done. Nice to know that some of the old faithful solutions can still work.

Out of interest, Philpilot, how far back did you have to go.

Wouldn't it be nice if the update process were a bit more intelligent and could spot those issues?

  • v2.0.0.74 I found was the key to upgrading from v1x FW going forward.

I’m not at my computer at the moment, but it was the first V2.x.x.
