Unable to connect Orbi Satellite

I was experiencing drops, so I logged into my orbi login and noticed one of my satellites was no longer connected. After a while, I was able to get it to re-sync, and I upgraded to V2.1.1.16. The satellite was still losing connection from the router. I performed a reset on the unit by depressing the reset button until the light flashed amber, then attempted the sync process again. The satellite will not connect, regardless of how close it is to the router. I've also pressed sync on the router, then on the satellite, hoping this would force the sync. No luck. I feel that I have a defective satellite, but I'm out of warranty. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I might be missing here?

  • I'm in the process of just installing my Orbi system, so take the following with a grain of salt, but I appear to be pretty solid as far as connections with the wireless 5GHz backhaul no less.  But to get here:

I have done a factory reset a couple of time on both the router and satelite, startying the entire process from scratch.

I also took out two other access points, that I am hoping to replace with one Orbi and SSID.  So  less frequency interference.

I initially. tried to do the entire install and setup via iphone app, but a workstation hardwired seems less issue prone.

I gave reboots, synchs, ect plenty of time to timeout or connect / process.

So maybe this helps a bit.

At this point I am doing several stress tests, repositioning the satelite in various parts of the house.  Router is two storys down in the terrace level in a wiring closet, pretty damn impressive that I can get 115Mbps at the router and the farthest end of the house via 5GHz backaul.

I have some 60 other devices to hook up to the wireless network and will update this thread with progress.  Devices consist of workstations, laptops, ipads, iphones, Sonos, thermostats, alarm control, ISY home automation, XBox, Apple TVs, Kodi boxes, Smart TVs, webcams, Alex Echo (dot, Sonos PlayOne), home monitoring cameras....
