Verizon FiOS Quantum Gateway Router Orbi RBK53 Issues
Hello All,
Hoping someone can share some insight here. I've hooked up my Orbi router as the primary gateway (connected directly to FiOS) and everything works fine EXCEPT for my channel guide and VOD. Obviously, I know that my Verizon Quantum router is needed for these features, so I hooked up an Ethernet cable from one of the LAN ports on the back of the Orbi into the WAN port on the Quantum Garteay. If you log into the Orbi admin portal you will see the Quantum Gateway connect for a minute or two and then drop off the network and no longer show as connected. Has anyone esle expereinced this and know how to fix? This setup worked fine on my old Niighthawk router but its not working with Orbi.

here's what you're effectively doing:

it can cause many issues. Especially with devices that need to act as a router to run vod services.
What I'd do to get everything working?
Hook it up like this:
Fios gateway------>quantum router in router mode------->Orbi but with orbi in AP mode.
You do lose some of the functions of your orbi with it being in AP mode but you'll retain the wifi and switch capabilities all while being able to use the VOD/guide for the quantum.
I would recommend turning off the wireless on the quantum so it doesn't interfere with the orbi.

Thanks...ideally I would like the Orbi to be the primary router so my internet traffic is not funneling through two devices. VOD and channel guide aren't very important which is why I've tried to configure it this way. What I don't understand is why it worked fine with the Nighthawk router but won't work with the Orbi. I'm curious as to if anyone got it to work the way I have it configured and how.

maybe the quantum router has an AP mode.
it probably appears shortly on the orbi list until it recognizes its using the same subnet and then auto-reconfigures for a different subnet.
