What are the Correct settings for optimal usage for Orbi Router w/ 3 Sats

I have a RBR50 and 3 satelites hooked up in my house. We have the Nest cameras and a doorbell and Alexas and various other WiFi devices. What is the best settings to use on the router to get optimal reliability? Whats the best for multiple users that stream and game. I have full signal in the entire house and I still keep getting disconnects and unstable connections. What should I do?

  • Hello Supergate ,  Best to tell everyone how your Orbi is connected to broadband with details such as service tier, make and model of modem/gateway, and if the Orbi is configured as router (default) or access point .

One simple suggestion I will make is, with that many satellites you have Ethernet ports beaucoup.  As such, connect as many devices as you can wired. I've done this with most of my FireTV boxes and my AppleTV.  Some devices obviously need to remain wireless .  For the Amazon streaming boxes which do not have a native Ethernet connection, an adapter exists that goes on sale for $10 at times .   I'd also work to make any gaming devices be hardwired as well .

Is the Orbi itself setup with default settings?

    What Firmware is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP modem the NG router is connected too?

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet is recommended in between them to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.

What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?
What WPA security modes are you using? WPA2 and AES only.

Try enabling Beamforming and MIMO(MIMO may or maynot be needed) and WMM. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings

Try disabling the following and see:
Daisy Chain, Fast Roaming, IPv6 and Set 20/40Mhz Coexistence to 40Mhz only. Save settings and reboot the router and satellite(s).

      Currently I have an ARRIS - SURFboard 8 x 4 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem.

The firmware on router is V2.3.1.48.

The house is about 4000sq ft

The distance between router and sats are under 30ft.

We have about 3 to 4 neighbors with WiFi. The channels are on auto and its on WPA2.

Daisy chain is disabled along with 20/40Mhz.

There a model # for the modem?

I would set the sats to at least 30 feet. Any thing under maybe too close....

        Try manual channels
