When should a wi-fi router be reset to factory defaults?
I had to change out my cable modem the other day and my Orbi RBR50 wifi network has been kind of weird since.
The majority of devices connected again no problem. But a handful of them, particularly my Synology NAS and a few Google Home Minis, have not been able to get online. The NAS is actually available on the local network as a file server but it can’t connect to the internet. I’ve tried lots of troubleshooting with these devices, resetting them to factory defaults, changing up their IP reservations when they had them, etc., but I just can’t get them online again.
I have no idea why I’m seeing this behavior. I’ve changed out orders in the past and the Orbi network always came back on fully intact.
So I’m wondering if what I should be doing is restoring the Orbi router itself to factory defaults and then re-creating the SSID and password, in order to get a fresh start? Hopefully that would allow all my existing devices to get back on the network with a minimum of fuss. Any thoughts on this plan?
