Will The AC3000 Router Work As A Satellite?

I have recently purchased the AC3000 router & single satellite package (RBK50-100CNS) for my home. Seems to work decent except I need more range..

Having looked around, they want almost as much money for a single satellite unit as they do a router/satellite package.

My question is, if I purchased another router/sateliite package, could i use both units as satelitites??

    Welcome to the community, wantbetterwifi

You will have to configure the second Orbi router to be in AP mode then it will be connected through wired connection on the first satellite.

Then for the 2nd satellite, it will be synced to the 2nd router that's in AP mode by using the snyc button.

Ok, do I understand this right?

      Internet connected to Router1

      Router1 is in routermode

Router2 is in AP-mode and is wired with ethernet to Router 1

      Satellite 1 & 2 is connected to Router2 wireless

The big question for me is if Router1 is the ”main” Router and handle the one and only SSID in this ”system”. The satellites (who is connected to Router2) use/send the SSID from Router1?

If this works i maybe have a fake wired backhaul, but i sure works fine for me.

      /David

Can I wire all 4 with ethernet while still using router-2 as satellite?

Based on the image the system will have 2 different SSIDs. So you won’t be having one global ssid name across the house. It will be 2 different networks all together. Is this right? If so, the. What is the true benefit of having the multiple router setup and having the 2nd router in AP mode if you can’t get the single ssid?

Router + Satelite is right now on sale for $280, while a 1 Satellite is $204, so getting 2x RBS50 is just more expensive.

        Was hoping to sve money
