Wireless bridges in an Orbi setup

Hi

Can anyone help with the following,
I’ve recently invested in the Orbi Rbk50 for my home
i have a Asus Rt N66U router setup as a wireless bridge,

The Orbi router and N66U are in the same room, the N66U is connected to the 5ghz channel of the orbi router ( I turn off the satellite when scanning wireless channels on the N66U )
My problem is the N66U keeps dropping off the network, which means all the wired devices connected to it also drop off the network. This has only become an issue with the Orbi router wireless network any other wireless networks on other routers like BT HH, or linksys routers the N66U works fine with and does not drop off the network.

I’ve tried setting the N66U with a static ip, I’ve also tried using reserved ips ( all done from within the orbi configuration )
none of which makes a difference, the N66U drops off the network, at least once in any 2 hour period
Orbi firmware 2.1.4.16

I’ve seen suggestions about buying another satellite, but I’d like to try and avoid this, plus the router and satellite would be too close together

Any advice or help on what I can change on the orbi to try and stop this, appreciated

  • One user not too long ago mentioned that he was having problems with his ASUS wireless bridged. We did a few things however nothing seemed to work until he did a factory reset on the ASUS bridges and then set up up again from scratch...

    Other things to try:

Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?
Try disabling the following and see:
MIMO, Daisy Chain, Fast Roaming, IPv6 and Set 20/40Mhz Coexistence to 40Mhz only.
