Hello Shaun 68
Is this happening in all cars or have you just tried it in 1 car outlet?

Hi Darren,
Yes multiple cars, multiple car chargers and cables. I will charge from the USB port in the car but not the car charger, which is strange.

Hello
I have the same problem.
I contacted german netgear support but they where not able to tell which car charging adaptor would work, neither the support was able to tell what technical specifications are expected by the AirCard 810S, neither there are aware of a firmware bug. I guess the AirCard 810S is expecting a valid USB-data-connection (not only power connection), as charging is working on every computer USB-port. With this guess I bougth from hama an USB Auto-Detect Charger (hama : 00081368), as Apple iPhone/iPad power-charger did also not work together with AirCard 810S. The hama USB Auto-Detect Charger 00081368 works with AirCard 810S. Also I bougth a new car charging adaptor that is also claimed to be auto-detecting (hama: 00014138) and to work with all devices. I tested it this morning in my car in the garage - when I connected the powerd off AirCard 810S to the new hama car-adaptor charger, the AirCard powered on by it self, but did the battery sign did not show a charging process. Tomorrow I will bring the car out of the garage in order the mobile signal strength is high, with the hope the AirCard 810S will the charged by the new car-adaptor.
It would be very very very helpful, if netgear could first mention the possible compatibility issue, second publish a compatibility list and third publish the technical specifications in order user can find potential car-charging adaptors that will work - best would be a firmware upgrade, that would fix this issue.
Many thanks and best regards
by the way on the Telstra-Forum there is an other thread about this issue

Hi,
There is a firmware update planned for Mar 20 on the AC810-100EUS that should allow the device to charge with a wide range of chargers.
There is an update planned for Telstra SKUs (AC810S-1TLAUS) but we do not yet have a confirmed date for the release.

Hello
I can confirm, that with the new firmware (NTG9X40C-11.14.08.20) I am now able to charge the AC810 with a vehicle/car charging adaptor.
