Extender for MR6500
I have acquired a Nighthawk MR6500 and am looking for an extender. I can see that models like the EX8000 have been recommended in the past, but these are no longer updated by Netgear, so I'm wonderi...
A couple of different options.
- Because the MR6500 has an Ethernet port, just pick up a used mesh system. Then you have better coverage with higher broadcast power and more access points.
- Even just a used router connected to the Ethernet port. A decent router will have better broadcast power than a hot spot.
- Make sure the MR6500 is in high power mode for wifi. The default reduces power for travel (FCC requirement)
- Pretty much any extender should work. The EAX series is pretty solid (I have the EAX18 and EAX80). They'd provide more coverage if needed.
A bunch of options out there. But without knowing your use case, its tough to really point in one direction.
