Does the modem provide WiFi as well or does it require a router?

Nope, no WiFi - you'll need a router or access point for that.
This does not have wifi built into it. You can however plug in a wireless access point through the lan cable. Also if you have a wireless router that you prefer to use, you can just use it as a modem.
