LB2120 Internet Connection Issues - Eir Mobile

I recently purchased this 4G LTE Modem and inserted my Eir mobile sim card. It connects to the mobile network and on the home screen it tells me I am connected to the internet. I can see the signal strength metrics too. See attached screen grabs.

 

However it seems I am not connected to the internet.

I cannot download the Netgear software update and nor can I load any internet pages.

 

I have connected the modem to my Apple Airport Extreme and this seems to work ok. The modem is in Router mode and the Airport Extreme is in Bridge mode.

 

Can anyone help shed some light on my issue for me? Tech support from Netgear is poor and they tell me it will be at least 24 hours before I get a call back - if ever I fear.

  • I solved this myself by trial and error. Like this:
    - I loaded a different SIM card into the modem and it worked just fine. That told me I had no issue with the modem and it’s connection to my AirPort Extreme.
    - I downloaded the firm update using this second SIM.
    - It was then clear that the internet (APN) settings with my first SIM weren’t set correctly.
    - So I Googled APN settings for my Eir SIM and I found updated APN server details for my new Eir SIM.
    - Using the NetGear Mobile app I then updated the APN settings on the modem and it all got sorted. 😁
