LM1200 cable modem compatibility listing

John, I have abandoned using this product for the last year or so because of WAN issues. I have been hoping, to no avail, a newer firmware (yes, I'm on 20.06.09.00) would be released to solve my issues.  From reading the community threads, it seems from your comments that the LM1200 is not compatible with certain cable modems.  I have an Arris Surfboard SB8200 and I am in bridged mode.

Are you able to provide a list of known compatible and or known incompatible cable modems? It would be ethical to provide this list to any potential buyers.  The only compatibility information currently listed on the netgear website is with regards to mobile carriers... https://kb.netgear.com/000063963/Which-mobile-carriers-are-compatible-with-my-NETGEAR-mobile-hotspot-or-fixed-wireless-device . Any reasonable shopper would assume that make of cable modem would not be relevant since there is no mention of it on the sales website.

I will continue to keep this paper weight around in hopes of a future firmware update.

Tony

  • Considering almost any "signal" can be a random (Ethernet)-Modem, in the case of DSL or cable modem this can be PPPoE, PPPoA, PPTP, native IP, DHCP, ... how should this simple device test and monitor the active Internet connection, especially if a random device. Really wonder what the design intention, and the configuration requirements are. I'm not wondering, how a simple bridged modem should be monitored for handling the LTE fall-over.

Sure, I can understand how things could work if the LM1200 operates in router modem and he LM1200 Dashboard does show a valid IP for the WAN connection. But not without the LM1200 having an IP address to monitor.

Is this where the confusion about the "supported modems" and "WAN issues" are coming from?
