LM1200 frequently loses WAN connection
I have an LM1200 between my broadband internet connection and Netgear Orbi. I intended to use the LM1200 as a 4G fallback for my internet. However, it looks like the LM1200 frequently drops the WAN ...

Hi John
LM1200 firmware version is:
Firmware Version: EC25EUGAR07A01M4G App Version: NTG9X07W_20.06.09.00 Web App Version: LM1200-HDATA_03.03.103.201 Hardware Version: 1.0
Netgear Orbi firmware is: V2.7.3.22
ISP is Vodafone but I am connecting directly to the NBN modem. This works fine when the Orbi is connected to teh NBN modem.
Regards
Chris

Thanks for the confirmation. LM1200 doesn't work well with certain modems. We have customers reported the similar issues with cable modems that LM1200 can't detect the data connection on the cable modem and set up the data connection properly. We will investigate it
When you say Orbi can connect to the NBN modem, do you need to make certain configurations on Orbi app or Orbi GUI?
To do a quick test, you can set up the devices in the following way and see whether LM1200 WAN connection can stay stably.
NBN Cable Modem -> Orbi LAN Port -> LM1200 WAN Port -> LM1200 LAN port -> Your laptop.
Thanks
John

Thanks John
I've not had to make any special configuration changes to the Orbi and it does seem to detect the network status itself pretty well when I connect it directly to the NBN box.
What I'm seeing is that the LM1200 drops the local area network (not the WAN) after a few hours even though the WAN is working.
This seems like a firmware bug to me.
The configuration is: NBN -> LM1200 WAN -> LM1200LAN -> ORBI -> home network
So even though the ORBI can "see" the LM1200 on the LAN and I can connect to the LM1200 @ 192.168.5.1, the LM1200 does not route packets to the WAN from the LAN. It happens at least once per day - probably every 12 hours or so.
