Is the support of the bands through the firmware of the system or through the hardware, meaning, is the American version of it working in Europe if the sku changes from nas to eus?

Not sure about mobile devices like the M6, but Routers sold as NAS seem to be locked down whereas European devices let you change the region.
So it may be a mix of hardware and firmware. My guess is that the hardware is the same but the firmware is locked. There used to be "command line" (Telnet) ways to get around this. But newer routers don't have that option.

In the sense that the NSA can be changed to EUS on the version of mr6500
