MR1100 performance great outside
Hello- while on the roof yesterday installing a new Wilson yagi antenna, I pointed the antenna to a tower and attached the coax cable and the mr1100 router. I tested the speed well over a dozen times and I was getting nearly 40mb or more. I routed the coax through the attic and down into a closet. I plugged back in the router and expecting to see the same results as I was seeing on the roof. Instead I’m getting about 15-20mb instead of the 40+ I was seeing on the roof. Is there a reason this is happening? I am not seeing an option in the router to tell it to use the external antenna. Any help or advice is much appreciated.

The device should switch to external antennas automatically, no setting, you maybe encountering power issues due to the length of the cable, you may need a powered repeater or an amp.
Did you try connecting the router to the end of the cable on the roof?

If you unplug the external antenna you should see the connection drop, try starting a long download the disconnected the antenna

Hello, and thank you for responding. The power is the same USB-C cable that came with the router. It is no longer than about 12 inches.
Yes, while I was on the roof I connected the antenna to the 40 feet of cable and then to the router. I was seeing about 40+ MB speeds while on the roof. This is the same cable that I ran down through the attic and into the closet.
If I unplug the antenna while the router is in the closet I do see the connection drop so that does tell me that it is using the antenna. It just doesn't make sense why while I was on the roof I was getting nearly 40-45 mb speeds and now in the closet I am seeing much less than that. Is it possible that I should get another antenna and point it to another tower? I have another tower that is about 3 miles away. The antenna that I am now connected to is about 1.5 miles away.
