New Netgear Router with voice. Connect to router but laptop says "No Internet Connection"

Bought Netgear Modem with voice for Xfinity. Plan to call Xfinity to avtivate phone service.. Replaced old modem (no voice) that gave me wi fi to my laptop from router.  With new modem laptop says "no Internet Connection".

Is this the right board to ask?

Do I disconnect wi fi using laptop then connect to see if that works?

Any suggestions would be useful.  Thank you.

    Hi bradnwa,

Thank you for your post. Can any other device be connected to the modem? Try doing a factory reset on the modem. You could try disconnecting and reconnecting the WiFi with your laptop. Please let me know if those steps work. :]

Thank you for the reply.  It was totally my fault. Since the old modem was also a Netgear, I thought all I had to do was make the connections; power, cable in, ethernet out to router and plug in phone.  The fix was to open the wi-fi connection on laptop, disconnect and then connect.  The laptop took a minute to recognize the new router and then it was connected.

My only excuse is I'm a senior trying to keep up with this techie stuff. Thanks again.
