Nighthawk M1 - Data Offset

Hello All,

I brought a Nighthawk yesteday from Telstra and I am having a particular problem with it.

I am wanting to use the Data Offset functionality,

I can set it up,   it connects and 50% of the time will stay connected, the other 50% is it doesn't connected to the WiFi network,  both the broadband and Wifi connection drops out.     Once I have added in a entry - i can't disable or turn it off, the device no longer allows me to connect to it  and I have to do a factory reset..

As a device, it's sublime.    and connects to the Telstra network and I can connect to it via USB / Wifi and there isn't a problem (OK, sometimes the device screen says it's detecting the dashboard says it's connected to the network)

I apologise if I am vague on the above and happy to provide any additonal information you may need

    Hi AnJellyCue,

I just had a couple of questions in regards to the issues you are experiencing with Data Offloading feature.

    1. When you say "the other 50% is it doesn't connected to the WiFi network,  both the broadband and Wifi connection drops out.", was your phone/computer not able to connect to the M1's AP or do you mean that you are offloading to a WiFi router and the M1 has dropped the WiFi connection to that router?

    2. "Once I have added in a entry - i can't disable or turn it off, the device no longer allows me to connect to it  and I have to do a factory reset..",  - Is the router you are trying to offload to using the same IP range as the M1? (192.168.1.1),  If you tried entering http://m.home/ into your web browser do you have the same issue?

Keen to get your feedback on this issue.  If you could also PM me your email address so that I can contact you directly on this issue it would be appreciated.

    Kind Regards,

      To answer your questions

      1)    My iphone / PC is unable to connect to the M1

      2)  The IP address of my router is in the 10.X.X.X range, and I have used m.home and I have the same problem, I have even tried the netgear App.

I was able to get it connected to the home WiFI perfectly.  the M1 on the device showed the home WiFi.   But when I went to turn off the Data Offset thats when the dashboard displayed broadband not connected / and the data offset connection unavailable.

        Hi AnJellyCue,

I am little confused with your responses.  For point 1 you mention that your iPhone or PC cannot connect to the M1.  However, you then mention:

"I was able to get it connected to the home WiFI perfectly.  the M1 on the device showed the home WiFi.   But when I went to turn off the Data Offset thats when the dashboard displayed broadband not connected / and the data offset connection unavailable."

How were you able to determine the data  if you were unable to connect to the M1 or are you experiencing 2 different issues?

Issue 1 - Intermittently unable to access the M1

Issue 2 - Data Offloading intermittently drops out

Please let me know if my understanding of this issue is accurate.

        Kind Regards,
