Hi,

which usb-c ethernet adapter is compatible with such router? I tried an Belkin and an Realtek adapter with no success. May I miss something? Do I have to configure adapter in ui?

Best regards,

Peter

What are you trying to do?

    What Netgear devices are involved?

M3 could be one of several things. It isn't a Netgear model number that I can find.

      Sorry!

I forgot to write down such needed info, it's the Nighthawk M3 MH3150 router.

This device doesn't have an ethernet port, I read on some websites there is support for usb-c ethernet adapters.
I tried to use router as 5G router without wifi, only ethernet is needed.

I can't find any specific setting in web ui, connected device on usb ethernet adapter doesn't get an ip address.

Also setting of fixed ip doesn't help.

      May I miss something?

      Best regards!

Where did you read that? The Internet is full of rubbish information.

USB <> Ethernet adapters aren't likely to work on something like a modem.

That has a USB port to connect to  a laptop, to support charging, and sometimes storage, not network connections.

So, you can connect a PC to the MH3150 with WiFi or a USB cable, no adapter needed. But not with Ethernet.

What do you have that needs an Ethernet connection?

Depending on the PC, it may be able to share its Internet connection from the modem/router with other devices that it can connect to with Ethernet.

  • I can confirm that Nighthawk M3 MH3150 can work with an USB-C to Ethernet dongle.
It is also announced in Netgear page (Nighthawk® USB-C to Ethernet Adapter):

    https://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/USB2ETH/USB2ETH_TS.pdf

By the way i has been "sold-out" on any e-shop.

When I first got the M3, in the last window/screen it mentioned the option of using an usb-c to ethernet dongle, once firmware was upgraded it did not show that message anymore.

I've been trying many regular 1Gbps dongles, and almost fail, but could get it working with a 2,5Gbps bought on amazon:
    Vonxite 2.5G Adaptador USB-C Ethernet+PD100W

It required some setup tweaking on the Router but finally worked.

I am getting a IP (192.168.1.0/24) and gateway/DNS 192.168.1.1 from the router via LAN Adapter ... But I couldn't access the Internet ... What setup are you using

  • I have my MH3150 working directly as a "usb network" device when connected to my pc. No need for an adapter. In linux, it is transparent, but I have not tried with windows.
