Nighthawk M6 Pro MR6400 won't run without battery when tethered to computer
Hello, I recently purchased the Nighthawk M6 Pro MR6400 hotspot. Unlike the MR5200 and MR6500, it does not seem to want to power on without the battery connected when tethered to a PC. I chec...

HI there
NETGEAR is hopeless in providing the service after sales despite being under warranty. They do play the delay and ignorance game for the warranty period to ends, and they never help after that (I don't believe any explanation they provide, since they were not helping and ignored their own product). I my case, pissed poor customer service at netgear (well several of them actually), not only did not provide the needed help, but at the end they said I need to return the product to the bloody telstra shop where I purchased it here in Victoria australia. The shop didn't accept the return, and I was forced to make a complaint against the shop and finally the complaint section of Telstra the kind lady was so upset about all these that I had to go through and refund my money. I suggest get it refund immediately since you are under warranty (well, I hope you are) and get something else. I do NOT Recommend NETGEAR product to anyone, and anywhere I go, I'll make it known.
Since this is Telstra M6, you should contact Telstra for the warranty related request. I think Telstra also allow no fault return.
Thanks

You are wrong in making an incorrect assumption, and please don't reply for the sack of replying, you did not provide help at first place and this shift of responsibility is a total unacceptable excuse. Netgear has proven multiple time that you do not have a customer service and do not provide service after sales, all you care is sale and the profit.

I understand your frustration. Did you read my comments to others? Computer USB port can't provide the enough power to operate the device in no battery operation. This is by design.
Thanks
John

please don't blame me for your shortcoming, I did read your comments and NO still didn't work. I went and purchased a USB hub with its own dedicated power source and very expensive, but still didn't work. So to cut all this BSs I am receiving from you guys pretending to be helping... on the product manual it clearly says that you can operate the modem without battery on its own, there is no single hint or direction that the computer usb won't power enough the modem without the battery, and now you are telling me its by design you need a dedicated power source for the USB of the modem. so all in all YES by default the product is misleading and deceptive in advertising NOT telling customer on the manual about the faulty design... GOT IT?????
- igorjrrFeb 15, 2023ApprenticeM6 is an unfinished product that is being sold at premium price. You, and I, were fooled by Netgear. We wasted our money.

So if a USB port can't supply adequate power, how is it that when plugged into that same port WITH the battery, it's able to charge the battery and also allow use for the hotspot? How do the numbers add up there? If a USB port can supply enough juice to charge the battery while the device is running, I can't see a logical way that there'd need to be a requirement for the battery if the USB port can supply enough power to charge the battery and allow it to run at the same time.
