Nighthawk mobile router MR2100 only works with battery removed
I've had my router for a couple of years but it is well looked after and only used lightly. It hasn't ever been dropped or subjected to any moisture or dirt ingress.
Just this morning I came to use for the first time in 3 weeks but the battery was dead. I then inserted the charging cable in and connected the charger to the mains and it refuses to charge. I've been able ascertain that the cable and charger work perfectly with other devices.
I cleaned the charging port with dry air and a clean toothbrush to no avail. I then removed the battery which looks as it should with no sign of damage. When I attempted to use the device connected to the mains without the battery inserted the device powered up and functioned as expected.
Does it sound like my battery is done? If so i'm quite disappointed since it was hardly used and kept clean and dry, Could it be that the battery didn't like being allowed to drain to zero?
Would love to know your thoughts and where I would get a genuine replacement?

Hi Papan
Welcome to NETGEAR Community!
May we please know the device SKU (MR2100-xxx)? This can be checked on the box of the product or on the barcode label
When you try to charge the device, what shows in the LCD UI?
Kindly access MR2100 settings page and check TETHERING section.
Go to Setup > Router Setup > Tethering > select Charge onlyRegards,

Could you please let me know what you see on LCD when you try to charge the device?
Will the device be turned on without the battery?
Sometimes, the battery will be over-drained after long period of without charging. You can connect the charger to it for longer period of time to see whether the battery can be fully charged.
Thanks

Hi,
Yes it does turn on when plugged in with the battery removed, so I suppose that means the charging port is fine.
I did buy a replacement battery which worked without issue. t seems these batteries do not like being drained to zero because when it happened with the new replacement battery, that too began to have an issue!
