Rebroadcast Changing WiFi sources

So, moving from RV camp to RV camp, and then back home again, I would like to have a stable router with WiFi settings (currently using an R6700) to light up all my devices, while having a simple means to capture the new locations WiFi signal and light up the stable router. I tried using the EX7000 as a WiFi extender but it doesn't seem to be able to give an IP to the router WAN port. The EX7000 really wants to rebroadcast the WiFi it is receiving but ideally I would like to disable the extenders rebroadcast just send the incoming WiFi signal through an Ethernet connection to the router for my RV internal wireless network. As this doesn't seem possible with my current hardware, I'm looking for any ideas on how to do this that doesn't require a complete router settings overhaul at each new camp. At a minimum, we have 2 Firesticks, 2 laptops, 2 phones, and a tablet or two on the router. The router has an HDD connected that will share content wirelessly on the Firesticks even if there is not an internet connection. We're not necessarily running everything at the same time, bandwidth isn't the issue, it's wanting to be able to use all devices through the single router without changing settings on every device at every stop.

Any and all suggestions and info is appreciated!

  • That's an interesting challenge. If you want to use a standard router set up, then you might not be in the best place to seek help.

This section is for Cell Service Mobile Hotspot Modems, AirCards, & Mobile Routers. That might be a good alternative, but it uses the cellphone network rather than local wifi sources.

    You could also try:

Nighthawk Routers with WiFi 6 (AX) - NETGEAR Communities

That's a step up from the devices you picked.

I looked around but missed the section I posted in, thanks for the heads up! Is there a way to move my post to a different thread or will I just need to repost it elsewhere?

I am actually looking into a separate cell system to pull in/boost the signal for emergencies or when the WiFi in the area is just that bad, but it would be very helpful to have a stable and working WiFi setup as a primary option. At least until one of the roaming satellite services become more viable.

In that case you picked the right place.
