turns on and off
I have a nighthawk Wifi router which works really well except every now and then it turns itself off and then on. Not the signal dropping, the power. I have disabled the sleep function which was set but it is still doing it. It is worse when I am at home. When I am travelling it is not as bad. does not do it at regular intervals. can be every minute a few times and then right for a couple of hours. I was wondering if anyone else has this issue or maybe if someone knows if something in the settings.

Hi Junehrbrt,
The behavior you are describing is the MR1100 crashing and rebooting. This was a common issue up until the most recent firmware. The current firmware seems to work much better. I've experienced very few such crashes in the past month or two.
In general:
1) Disable 2.4Ghz Wifi and use only 5.8Ghz if your clients support it. 40Mhz, Long.
2) Use a high quality QC2 or QC3 charger (such as one from Anker) and leave it plugged in under heavy use
But even with the new firmware the unit will still occassionally crash or act "flaky" when using the stupid soft power button -- aka during attempted startup or shutdown of the unit. I hate software power buttons, give me a switch any day.
Also, battery charging is very flaky. If the unit is the slightest bit warm it will refuse to charge when the USB-C power is connected. I have to open the back, pull the battery, and let it air out for 15-30 min sometimes.
When in doubt, pull the battery and let it sit for a minute or so to force it to restart if it becomes nonresponsive.

Thanks Johnathon, I have done an update and that seems to have stopped the issue from happening so far. It is set to 2ghz/5GHZ so if it still keeps happening I will look at changing it just to 5. Luckily I have had no issues with powering up or heating.
Thanks again
