Using MR1100 Nighthawk M1 as modem for D6200 router

I have an existing D6200 modem router which we've typically used for our ADSL2 connection. New house has poor quality line and the connection is slow, so I've bought a Nighthawk M1 MR1...
Update on the situation. I put the M1 into IP passthrough, connected ethernet cable between M1 and D6400 WAN port, and the D6400 is successfully obtaining IP and DNS details on the WAN interface. However the D6400 is being allocated a subnet of 255.255.255.255 for the WAN interface and there is no internet connectivity for attached devices. If I manually allocate the D6400 WAN subnet to 255.255.255.0 then everything works great and there is internet connectivity for all devices. However when rebooting the M1 the IP allocated by the ISP will change, and connectivity drops.
Does anyone know why the IP pasthrough function on the M1 is passing the 255.255.255.255 subnet through to the D6400?
Any updates to this IP passthrough issue? I'm having the exact same situation with the M1 connected to a Linksys E4200. The M1 is passing 255.255.255.255 as the WAN subnet mask. If i change the router to static and use the same values except change subnet mask to 255.255.255.0 then everything works (until the M1 reboots and is assigned a new WAN IP). It seems like the M1 is incorrectly passing an invalid subnet mask.
No updates sorry. Netgear support was initially excellent, but quickly deteriorated to woeful or non-existent when the case escalated beyond typical reboot type troubleshooting. Case #05562698 for reference if it helps. Netgear have refused to address the case for a few months now and I am very dissapointed given that both products are under their control.
I have worked around the issue for now by using the Nighthawk as modem/router with Wifi disabled, and the D6200 as Wifi access point. Not ideal as I would like to use some of the more advanced features of the D6200 but at least it's functional.

My M1 works without problem when setting to IP Passthrough mode, the router behind is set as DHCP for its WAN port.
Hi Will - can you advise what firmware your M1 is running, what model / firmware for your router, and what subnet your router is being allocated on it's WAN? Would be super helpful.
