Wifi extender or repeater for MR1100?
What do I need to extend the range of the wifi signal on the MR1100, a wifi extender or repeater? Model recomendation of extender or repeater?
Just trying to get better coverage when using at home...

You need an access point, which you can connect to the MR1100 via its Ethernet port. You can either buy a dedicated access point or use a router and set it up as an access point. I purchased a cheap but effective second hand router and set it up as an access point, which involved switching off various features, like DHCP server, firewall (the MR1100 will be dealing with security). You then change its gateway IP address, picking an address that doesn't clash with the MR1100's gateway address and is not within the DHCP server range that is set on the MR1100 (you can change the MR1100 range if you need to). Remember that after you change its IP address, you need to use this new address in a browser to access its admin interface. Here's a Youtube video that gives a reasonable introduction.
In my set up, I bought a cheap unmanaged Ethernet switch, connected this to the MR1100 and then connected 2 access points (both sencond hand routers converted to access points) into the switch. I have these access points at opposite ends of the house. I gave them different SSIDs so that I could recognise which was which and I also forced them to use different WiFi bands - this probably wasn't necessary but you can easily experiment with this.
Have fun :smileywink:
