Can't access GS108E switch on Windows 10
After upgrading to windows 10 I can't access my GS108E switch. Get "A fault occurred contacting the server. Fault message is:HTTP request error". Any idea what is the problem?

I reset the switch to factory defaults & it now works in WIN10. Wish I could label each port so I know whats connected to it. It's a bummer not knowing what I connected to all 8 ports. I should be allowed to label each port with a name. Can that be done? Thanks for your help. Close the case.

Hi rstahl02,
We currently have a GS108Ev1 (yours is a GS108Ev2). Our PC has been updated to Windows 10 recently. I was able to install the latest version of the ProSAFE Plus Configuration Utility and it discovered our GS108Ev1 as shown on the image below. Our GS108Ev1 has the latest firmware version.
Kindly try to uninstall then reinstall the latest version of the ProSAFE Plus Configuration Utility v2.3.5 on your Windows 10 PC. You may download it here.

I already had the latest software but I removed & reinstalled it. No help. This is strange. Works on your WIN10 but not mine. I put WIN10 on 3 computers and it only worked OK on one. I removed it from 2. This Dell XPS15 is the only one that has WIN10. Strange. Is there another way to access this router? I tryed direct IP but NG. Maybe I needed to add something to the IP? What is the secreat way to access this router?

Hi rstahl02,
Just to clarify, the GS108Ev2 is a switch not a router. You mentioned that you got it working on one Windows 10 PC of yours. With regard to that, do you have any software firewall or anti-virus enabled on your Dell XPS15 (or other Windows 10 PC)? If ever there is, kindly try to disable it then check if the GS108Ev2 will be detected by the ProSAFE Plus Configuration Utility.

You misunderstood. WIN10 worked on only one, not your utility (Did not try utility on them before I removed it.). IT DOES NOT WORK ON MY WIN10, worked on WIN7. Strange. I disabled ESET before but it did not help. I ask again, is there another way to access the switch other then your utility???

Hi rstahl02,
I apologize for that. There are just 2 ways to configure the GS108Ev2: first is using the ProSAFE Plus Configuration Utility and second to access the web-GUI using a browser provided that the switch is on the latest firmware version. What is the current firmware version of your GS108Ev2?

1.00.12 is the firmware version. I use my WIN7 computer to assess the switch.

Hi rstahl02,
You have the latest firmware version on your GS108Ev2. Have you at least tried to access the web-GUI of your GS108Ev2 using a browser by typing its IP address on your Win7 computer? If not yet, kindly try so we can check if its web-GUI is accessible.

I can't access the switch useing its IP from WIN7 but can access it useing your utility. Is there something "special" I need to add the IP? A port # or somethig? I tryed http and https, NG.

There has to be a way to access the switch not useing your utility but I don't know the trick. Have you all given up on this one?

Hi rstahl02,
We do not have a GS108Ev2 switch at the moment so that I could test it on our Windows 10 PC. I have mentioned that it is possible to manage the GS108Ev2 via a browser and my basis for that is its data sheet. You may check page 2 of the data sheet here. I have already inquired this. I will get back to you once I got a response.

Hi rstahl02,
Here is the suggestion I got from my inquiry: On your Windows 10 PC, kindly try to install Winpcap then install the ProSAFE Plus Config Utilityand this might help. If ever this will not work on your Windows 10 PC, the workaround is just to use the Windows 7 PC to manage your GS108Ev2 switch.

Hi rstahl02,
Welcome! :) I am glad that performing a factory reset on your GS108Ev2 switch made it work. :)
I am afraid to tell you that there is no option to label each port on the ProSAFE Plus Configuration Utility.
Feel free to post your future concerns here in the community.
Cheers,
DaneA
